'98 Civic clutch question

Expert advice needed, please. My '98 hatchback clutch suddenly went bad, or apparently so. It had always felt a little weak since I bought it 2 years ago, but now it's shot. Symptom: engine on, I can shift into any gear with no grinding at all, not depressing clutch at all. With clutch pedal depressed then letting up on pedal, only tiny lug in engine...absolutely no engagement. Have checked shift linkage underneath - action good. Have checked and bled clutch slave cylinder - action apparently good, no leaks. Can a slave cylinder be bad even if action looks good? Any input appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like it needs a clutch job.
