RPM Fluctuates Above 4k, need help!

The other day my car didn't start. Long story short, I had to replace the Ignition Control Module (igniter). The car starts and runs fine now. The only exception is that the car cuts out and the RPMs fluctuate above 4k. Any advice is much appreciated.

It is a 98 Civic EX 5 Speed with 150k miles

I'll guess:

One or more of the female wire terminals that you connected to the igniter isn't correctly installed (male blade went between the boot and terminal instead of into the middle of the terminal)

OR female terminals are not gripping the male blades tightly and needs crimped a little tighter.

See the 2nd page of this service bulletin for more info: http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/p0420/A05-027.pdf
If you are careful you can do this with pliers.

I messed with the wires to the module this morning. It now cuts out at 3,100 RPM so I believe that is my problem. I will try to mess with it tomorrow in a heated garage. Thanks again for the help!

I got it fixed! I messed with the wires again using pliers. I also got new screws to attach the ICM to its mount. For some reason the original ICM is a slightly different shape than the new one. The new one was loose on the mount, but not anymore. I should have taken pics but at least she's running like normal. Thanks again!
