08 Civic idling rough, shifting late

I have an 08 Civic LX coupe with automatic transmission and 65K miles. About 6 months ago it started idling rough and kind of trembling/shaking on startup. When I backed out of the driveway and put it in D and gunned it up the street it would pretty much immediately go away. Replaced air filter and ran a fuel treatment through to no avail.

I took it to a mechanic and he said he didn't think there was anything wrong with it, said the computer was very sensitive and it would throw a check engine light if anything was wrong. He said plugs were not due for changing until like 105K

Since then the rough idle has gotten worse. Sometimes when I start it my keys even start shaking hanging from the ignition. And I have also noticed that quite often it seems to be revving higher than it used to before it shifts gears.

Any idea what might be going on?

idling rough and kind of trembling/shaking on startup.

put it in D and gunned it ....... immediately go away.
Hard loud rough vibrating: Motor mount has been common, the one large mount on the nose of the engine is the one that goes bad.

Check out the good/bad pics of a mount in this post: https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...ml#post4577741
And I have also noticed that quite often it seems to be revving higher than it used to before it shifts gears.
See if that mount may be your problem first.

Can you tell from looking at this if the mount is bad?

I'm having the same problem with my 08 POS. Motor mounts, transmission mounts were all replaced.....they were all bad, but I still have a terrible vibration. It is a bit better, but it seems the vibration will damage the new mounts in no time....any ideas?

Looks like it's collapsed. There's little or no gap between the upper and lower halves.

Throw away the aftermarket mounts.
Install factory mounts.

I've not yet seen any of these cars that needed any more than the one at the nose of the engine anyway, pictured above.
