high irratic idle

I've recently had another motor installed in my '01 civic lx. Motor is in, everything is buckled up and it will run. Problem is, it seems to have a high irratic idle. I read that it cud possibly be whats called a fitv or fast idle thermo valve bbut also ready tht '96 or newer civics don't have em. any ideas or any suggestions??

what is your definition of the word "irratic"

could be a loose or disconnected vaccuum/intake line/hose

Mechanic that did my motor swap said that it would idle from about 2k rpm to 3k rpms. Not fast enough like if one was patting the gas pedal, just idle up for a few seconds then back down...sorry I misspelled irratic. I meant erratic...

Good enough to swap the engine, but not good enough to figure out what is wrong with it?

Huge vacuum leak(s)?
Broke the plastic intake manifold open?
IAC stuck wide open?
Got codes?
