97 Civic d16y7 idle surge - air wont completelybleed.
97 civic lx - d16y7 - manual - 167,000
I recently changed the timing belt and water pump. Since then I have had idle fluctuation/surge unless the fan for the A/C or Heat is turned on. With heat on full I have tried to bleed the system for 4-5 hours but it continues to bubble and the surge continues. Fan cycles normally and the thermostat seems to open as it should. I am using the proper funnel. I ran the heat on high. I thought for sure I had a bad head gasket but I have run a block test 3 times and it comes back negative. The car does not miss, overheat, or lose water. No steam or smell from exhaust. I have not checked the IACV or the FACV, as the problem started immediately after I did the water pump service I assume the problem is air in the system. I am pretty sure that my 97 model does not have a bleeder valve but I could be missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Looking for the answers and I haven't found any. I feel blind right now but I'm sure hind sight will be 20/20.
