Problem with idling when stuck in traffic
Problem with idling when stuck in traffic
I just bought my first Honda, it is a 1997 LX sedan. Car drives nice except when i am a traffic jam. After taking it out of gear to come to a stop the idle goes to anywhere between 2500-3000- rpms. If i tap the gas it helps sometimes. Other than that it never does it in normal traffic. Any ideas on the problem?

Re: Problem with idling when stuck in traffic
High idle when the engine is warm could mean a few things.
Check the transmission fluid, as previously posted, and also check your Idle Air Control Valve. I had a similar issue with my Civic, and a cleanup of the ICV and throttle body put me back to normal.
I made a little How-to in a previous thread:
