Transmission Question
Transmission Question
My '98 Civic LX (automatic Transmission) has started making a noise when the car starts to move. It is a single "clunk" when I start to move in forward or reverse. It's not very loud. It sounds like like a light knock on a hollow metal object. Any ideas? What can I check on my own before I resort to taking it to a professional?

Re: Transmission Question
You would need to begin with figuring out exactly where the noise originates, then figure out why.
Any recent work done? In the area where the noise comes from?
Some things that I thought of while reading:
Brake pad shift
Axle spline shift
Loose motor mounts/hardware
Golf ball in the trunk
Water bottle under a seat
Exhaust issues
