Transmission issue (this is gonna be a fun one)
Hi guys I'm new here I've been on many forums before so I know the basic principles of what to do on here. But instead of introducing myself I'm just gonna throw the ball right at you guys. So here's the story I was driving my civic its a 96 2 door 5-speed hx. With a 1.6 under the bonnet. I was heading to a sick loved ones house and I'm stopped at a stop light and I start to take off but something seemed strange about my tranny I could hit the nail though I got to forth laid off the petal. Turned my music off and started off again. And these are the results.
1-2 whine slightly
3-4 whine more prominently
5th seems the same.
4th I have to hold back to keep it from poping out of gear
The clutch doesn't always see like it wants to engage for the gears.
Sometimes I cannot put car into gear or out of gear
Was 3 quarts low on engine oil
Valve cover gasket blew.
Haven't check the tranny fluid yet. But I did see black oil where the engine and tranny are married on the passenger side.
I pull spark plug wire 4 I believe one closes to drivers side and the tube was full of oil.
5th grinds when ever its engaged.
That's the list of what I've gotten so far. Just want some ideas on what might have went in the tranny

Check the trans fluid. Check and fix any leaks (axle seals?).
Drain and fill it if it's been more than 30,000 miles.
If the trans keeps popping out of gear after that, it needs an overhaul or replacement.
Wait, 5th grinds? It's done. Too late. Skip ahead to overhaul or replace.
Address the clutch issues while the trans is out of the car.
But if you let the engine get 3 quarts low of oil, it may not have much time left.
Will it last long enough to make fixing the trans worthwhile?
