Is it over for my transmission?
Was parked on a bit of snow and ice last night, so much that the front of my car was left a little high centered on the ice and snow. I was stuck..Shoveling couldnt help much because the right front tire was a little off the ground and thus wasnt able to get any traction. Long story short, I called in for a tow, and after getting my car out, i noticed some light brownish liquid squirting from under my car. So I hopped in to move my car, but IT WONT MOVE. I've got a blinking "D" light on my dash, which can't possibly be a good sign
Now I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff, so I figured you guys could help me out. I appreciate any input. I'm guessing it's something with my transmission, but I snapped a couple of pics because I noticed this part came loose, but as to what it is.. and what exactly is leaking..I have no clue.

Re: Is it over for my transmission?
What model is your car (i.e. year and trim level)?
What did the leaking fluid smell like? I have a manual xmission and the fluid has a sweet smell to it.
That looks like your transmission but I don't know the specific parts. Is that little nub the loose part? Assuming your car is a '99 EX, it should be part of the shift solenoid, which may be replaceable. It's part 7 here: http://estore.honda.com/honda/parts/...n=&b=ATM02&dl=

Re: Is it over for my transmission?
I'm sorry, forgot to specify, it's a 2000 EX, and yeah. That part came became detached, i tried pushing it back in but it doesnt stay in. I just checked turned it on now and it seems to squirting from that area. Could this be the reason why it's not moving? I also have a blinking D4 light, and it wont move in any gear. had to push it in a parking spot.
Re: Is it over for my transmission?
Yeah a that solenoid is a type of switch activated by the transmission fluid. I'm not so good with transmissions but I would bet you money that it is preventing you from shifting. If the solenoid is your ONLY problem, your transmission is probably salvageable. I'm going to work now but I'm sure someone more experienced can help you out further.
Re: Is it over for my transmission?
I appreciate it. I just added more transmission fluid to test and It's leaking right out. so I'm guessing I must have scraped something real hard maybe I put a hole/crack in the pan, AND messed up the solenoid...crap this is the absolute last thing I wanted
Re: Is it over for my transmission?
Did you manage to see where it's leaking? I noticed ezone was looking at this thread, so you should be getting some good info soon!

Re: Is it over for my transmission?
Looks to me like it's leaking bad right out of where the solenoid was originally connected before it became detached. I keep trying to push it back into the spot it was in before but it just WONT stay. Is it worth mentioning that the car is automatic? The damn thing won't even move at all. Not if I put it in reverse or d, it just acts like it's in neutral.

You knocked that solenoid (or whatever it is), that's the most obvious issue. Fix it first, refill, and see what happens.
