1999 EX Won't Start
Earlier today I turned on my car, drove about two miles to a gas station where I filled up my tank. (started and drove fine) Filled about 35 dollars to full and when I went to turn the ignition a few things happened:
Eventually, I got about 3/4ths of the way to my destination and began to start having to drive up hilll where the motor couldn't seem to generate RPM's well enough to get up the hill and eventually they hit 0 and the car died. After this I pulled over and the car would not start, it felt as if it would turn over but would make some sort of screech/grind noise as it did. After pulling over the car was dead and is still unable to start, any suggestions? Any and all help is appreciated.
- The RPM's didn't rise to the normal level (3) nor did they stay risen and quickly began dropping substantially;
- During ignition, I believe after turning over, it sounded as if the spinning of the motor was skipping and losing traction causing the loss of RPM's
- Every time I had to bring the car to a stop, the RPMs would begin dropping and wouldn't build up as fast as normal no matter how much gas pedal I gave in

not sure about the screech/grind sound though it could be the starter, but a loss in power can be caused by a miss on one of the cylinders (or all if it wont start). Could be caused by no spark, which in turn can be caused by a number of things. bad plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor button in distributor, bad coil, bad ICM, these can all contribute to a no spark situation. You could have fuel issues though. Really we need more information to help diagnose your particular problem. First i would have someone help you to determine if there is spark. This particular site http://easyautodiagnostics.com/index...articles_1.php
was very useful in trying to diagnose my own problems with the distributor and a no spark situation. If you have spark at all the plugs, you could try and replace the plugs, as they aren't that expensive or make sure they are clean and gapped properly. But after you have spark with the proper gap there you can pretty much rule that out. Please keep us updated on your problem, and I'll try and keep ideas floating to you.

Spark, Fuel, Compression. Check them all. Even if you have spark it might not be powerful enough to run the engine so check spark gap too. Check your injectors and fuel pressure. Do a compression test. Check timing belt also.

Re: 1999 EX Won't Start
Sorry for the late reply, I went ahead and tested the ignition coil and the The primary winding resistance for the TEC distributor (which is on my motor) should be 0.63-0.77 ohms, it was EDIT: 0.8-0.7 (DMM only went to the first decimal point); so it was at the very top of the average, if not over. Could this have caused my problem? I also noticed that the fuel pump is still priming, could the fact that it's priming point to a fuel filter issue? Because after a start up/drive/rpm loss/failure to start cycle I had a friend hold onto the fuel line and he said it had a quick pulse but it never fully pressurized after the fuel filter. So if I hear the fuel pump itself is priming, I hear it, and the fuel lin after the fuel filter is not fully pressurizing and my ignition coil is testing at the top of the average of ohm winding resistance (0.77). With that info, am I any closer to realizing what's going wrong with my car?
