2000 ex running problem

Hi, My sons 2000 ex has a rebuilt motor in it. I built it but he had a buddy remove and install. The issue is the car will not cruise at a steady speed. Acceleration is fine, when you let off the throttle to slow down all seems fine, but if the throttle is held in one position, no matter the speed, it runs rough. There is a check engine light that has to do with intake air or manifold air. He doesnt remember exactly. Hopefully this is enough info to get an idea where to start looking as the buddy may have hooked up some hoses wrong but as of now has disppeared. Thanks

Re: 2000 ex running problem

Does it have an EGR valve?
Disconnect it and see if the problem goes away.

Can you duplicate the condition just by holding the throttle at the right RPM?

What are the code numbers? Cat is P0420, what are the rest?

How are the plugs, wires, cap and rotor?

I can't use flash codes, I would need standard OBD2 format.

Re: 2000 ex running problem

Hi, finally bought a reader as my Saturn has issues also. TYhe code given is P0325 which is knock sensor I believe. Much different than IAC
When I get back into town we are going to jack it up and hope for a forgotten wire during install of the rebuilt motor.
As always all input is very much apprewciated.
Thanks and Merry Christmas to all
