When my car is completely cooled off, the oil is right where it should be on the dipstick. After driving for about an hour, I checked the oil, and it was at the halfway mark. Then I checked it after letting it cool completely off, and it was back to where it was supposed to be.

Is this normal? Whats the reasoning for this? Its a 99 EM1.

The oil dipstick goes into the oil pan. And when it's running all the oil isn't in the pan. Perfectly normal.
