1998 Civic stalled now no start
1998 Civic stalled now no start
Was running fine. Now no spark. Replaced distributor cap and rotor and checked plugs. Engine cranks and can hear the fuel pump. Dwell is between 11 and 14 (so ok to assume the coil is ok) Is the black rectangle in the distributor the module? Is it removable? Where to from here?

Wrong assumption.
A dwell reading (checked at the coil) means that everything before the coil is working. It is trying to fire the coil.
You have a dwell reading when the system TRIES to fire the coil.
If there is no spark from the secondary tower of the coil, the coil has to be bad.
Sounds like all it needed was a coil, not a complete distributor.
BTW, I see about 2-4 degrees dwell during cranking most of the time. (Meter set to 4 cylinder scale).
If there was no dwell reading at all when measured at the coil (cranking the engine), then the igniter isn't trying to fire it. More testing needed.
