car won't start

97 civic lx AT 120K had to replace distributor. now i get spark and it trys to start but won't. could timing be off that much? double checked wires were not crossed. procedure for adjusting timing says do it with car running, but i can't. any ideas?

If you moved anything when changing the motor the timing would be out. Like changing the timing belt, if you turn it even one tooth timing is off. When it comes to timing its either correct or not. You have zero tolerance for error here.
