DIY for Intermediate/B-pipe

Have a 2-dr 99 Civic EX. Between catalytic converter and muffler, my intermediate pipe fell. Cars so loud that my ears are about to pop.

Shop wants to charge me $300 for part/labor.

Called Honda and they have the part, part # 18220-S01-A81, for $169. Hoping for a DIY manual/guide to walk me through this bad boy. Thank you.

Also how difficult is this job and anything I should be worried about?

Re: DIY for Intermediate/B-pipe

It's simple.

Unbolt the midpipe from the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter, bolt the new pipe in it's place. The only place area where you might have difficulty is if the bolts are frozen, which is relatively common with exhaust components. Reasonably, a shop shouldn't be charging more than $50 for labour. Call around and you should be able to get a better price.

Thanks MindBomber.

I think one issue I might have that the pipe rusted and fell near the cat. Might have to change out the cat as well unless I weld it back together ;-P haha. Will let you know how it goes

If you need to replace the cat that's where it'll get expensive, but I don't think you'll need to.

The midpipe rusted and broke off, but that shouldn't have affected or damaged the flange that bolts it to the cat. Unless the cat rusted in half and broke in two
