2000 Civic Drivers Door Lock Actuator (bad in 6 months)
2000 Civic Drivers Door Lock Actuator (bad in 6 months)
So I bought this car with 190,000 miles on it in March of this year. When I bought the car it had a problem with the drivers door lock so I changed the actuator and it worked great from then until this morning.
I woke up this morning went out to my car, hit the unlock button on my remote and the driver door lock made a CRAZY LOUD BUZZ NOISE. I hit unlock a few times from the switch on the drivers door and it only did it when hitting unlock. By the time I got to my job 20 minutes of a drive, the drivers side lock would not go up and down at all now and I can't even push it up and down.
I already bought another actuator online this morning but question is 6 months and it goes bad again?
Here's the one I bought:

Okay so I bought the 2nd one 9-2-11 and now it went bad already. Not even 2 months past. SAME LOUDDDD BUZZING NOISE!
I took the actuator out completely last night and put the door lock mechanism back in and now im just locking my driver door manually.
ANY IDEAS?

It can't be just two defective aftermarkets ones
Something has to be causing this?

I suppose there could be an issue with your latch...tight, binding ?
The actuator is only a DC motor and some plastic gearing.
Try moving the lever of the latch that the actuator operates to see if it feels tight.

Could water possibly be getting into the door and causing this?

I would try the lever that the actuator operates to see how tight it is. That is the lever the DC motor in actuator will be moving. You can use white grease on the latch and the linkage.

I will double check this sometime this week between jobs one day, if its loose, could i buy a whole used assembly with actuator?

if the lock moves up and down manually like it should (compare to how the passenger side feels), then its the actuator. i've had very bad luck with aftermarket motor assemblies and always stick with oem for these like door lock, window motors, mirror motor, etc. usually the honda civic lock actuator is only around $50 so its not like going aftermarket will save much money.

Could it be water getting in door and causing it to go bad?
