failing o2 sensor
failing o2 sensor
ok so the original owner (which is a family member) swapped out the engine and ecu but left the transmission in it. its a newer engine and an older transmission, i dont know the engine but the transmission is oem to a 1996 honda civic hatchback. so its throwing an o2 code and the original owner said something about taking it back to his mechanic and resetting the ecu and then it works? if anybody knows how to fix this i would love to know. oh and as for "his" mechanic he never returns calls and wont answer his phone and my car may be alittle past inspection. so please help
Re: failing o2 sensor
ah i forgot to mention the new ecu wants there to be three o2 sensors, and what i believe he said was because of the older transmission there is no place to put the o2 sensor, so i just need to get the code cleared. is there a cheap computer i can do that off of or do i just need to hit a cheap mechanics shop and ask them to clear it?
Re: failing o2 sensor
If you just need the code cleared, Auto Zone or any of those places that lets you use their scanners should be able to do it. I don't know whether or not it would come back though since you said it should have 3 sensors according to the ECU. That's what I'm worried about.
Re: failing o2 sensor
this all going off what the original owner said. me personally i cant seem to find where to look to find out what engine it is. well either way i just need to go autozone and get it cleared. sounds easy. thanks. im getting an engine swap, and im going to get it done correctly this time
