O2 sensor problem......kinda weird

So I have a 97 dx with just over 330K on her and I have had a check engine light on for a few months now......its a code P0135 O2 sensor heater circut B-1 S-1....... and. Just messing around the other day with a scan tool I switched the leads from sensor one to sensor two....... the code followed and im wondering what the heck is going on..... I bought the car with 140XXX on her and I have heard that the life expectancy of an O2 sensor is like 80K....... im pretty sure that the O2 sensors are factory origionals seing as how the battery sstill is and up untill about two weeks ago the timing belt was...... jjust wondering what could be the problem..... it apparently isn't the sensor itself and the wiring is good as far as I can see...... haven't dug into the loom yet but don't know what could have been messed up in there cuz its never been cut or smashed...... anyone have anyideas

Nvm..... im an idiot it the sensor........

If the O2 sensor is heated, chances are the heater might be bad. Going by what you say about mileage, this wouldn't really surprise me. The heaters usually go before the sensors do.

Denso.

Call the local parts store or go here: http://www.rockauto.com/

Get that specific brand as Honda tend to be very finicky about O2 sensors. Look to spend $40-60. Good luck.

Re: O2 sensor problem......kinda weird

Ok so new 02 upstream sensor in and about 3 hours worth of grinding out the cracks to a shallow "V" (after about an hour and only finishing the first crack I gave up an just used a die grinder and made a shalow chanel above the cracks) before I applied a metal repair paste from permatex(ran about 16 bucks for maybe a three ounce tube.) Let that cure for about 8 hours and slapped her back together. I have no CEL on anymore and the one time it did it was just the downstream saying the cat wasn't working at minimum cap. Cleared that and its been off for a few days now...... kinda weird kuz for the last 4 years or so I just ignored the light...... ill keep you guys posted on how the manifold repair holds up if ya want. If it gets as bad as it was im just gonna buy a headder and dummy the sensors anyway but I figured id try to do it right at least once...... also I can't remember when the old girl was this responsive and im finding I don't need to downshift quite so much anymore. Hopefully the mileage will get better as the last two tanks she only got about 24 mpg......

On a side note now that everything is actually sealed and all the exhaust is going through the cat and out the tailpipe, is it normal to get a slight sulfur smell from the exhaust? Im thinking not but like I said I haven't even run a full tank of gas through her since the fix... thanks guys

The smell might be from that sealant you used. Crack the windows.
