Stalling Issues
Stalling Issues
Hey everyone. My 1998 Civic LX recently went through a flood and so far I've changed the oil replaced distributor cap and rotor, crankshaft sensor, wires and spark plugs. I got the car running again after a few days of drying it out. I also took the ECU out and dried it with a hair dryer. The car runs for a bit but then the battery light comes on, all the electronics in the car dim and it eventually stalls. It seems that the car is running just off the battery. Usually this would be an alternator problem, but I suspect it may be the ECU. Does anyone have any ideas? The water was up to the speakers on the doors btw.
Re: Stalling Issues
Just because the water didn't get to the alt doesn't mean that it didn't short out. Have the alt tested first then go from there.
Also the harness may be corroded from water damage causing intermittent shorts and whatnot. Check the harness, especially the connectors (most vulnerable spot for corrosion).
