My SRS light is on in my 97 civic DX. It has been on sense I bought the car. I have read some places that their might be a bad sensor in the drivers side seatbelt buckle.

When I was doing some other things to the car, I noticed that the seatbelt senor had been unplugged from underneath the drivers side seat. I thought it might turn the light off when I plugged it in, but it didn't.

Does the SRS light have to be reset for changes to take effect like some CEL codes? What are the potential issues that turn the SRS light on?

As a side note, I saw on the sun visor, it noted that the SRS system has to be checked every 10 years. Does this light come on automatically every 10 years (such as maintenance required lights), or is it just a guide?

I think I have answered my own question. I will try resetting the SRS light with the paperclip trick http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showthread.php?t=115880

Sounds like thats the issue, seeing that the seatbelt connecter was disconnected. Will report back.
