Very Low Idle on 1997

Hi - I have a '97 with 130K miles. Recently the engine light went on & when I come to a stop, the car will idle really low, then shake a bit, and then go back up around 500 rpm. This is only about 50% of the time.

I was wondering if anybody knows what the problem may be? I replaced the Air Intake Valve about a year ago. The oxygen sensor was replaced 5 years ago...I was thinking this may be the issue again (?). Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

could be a dirty idle air control valve easy enough to remove and clean it then reinstall. check the battery terminals make sure they are tight and clean also in the engine bay fuse panel make sure the screws that hold the battery wires down are tight.

There is a screw on your throttle body that you can turn out which will kick up your idle. It is a flat head screw that alot of times has a rubber plug in it that you will need to remove to get to it.
