I have a 1997 Civic DX that idles good at first, then after warming up, it idles really low and sometimes dies when I come to a full stop. I notice that occasionally if I let off the brake that the idle will come back up, but not always the case. Also, while warmed up and at a stop, if I turn the wheel at the same time the brakes are applied, the idle drops even more and dies (or damn close to it). I have no mods, all stock (other than stereo). I took it in to Honda at 148,000 miles to have a diagnostic check done to tell me what the problem is and they had 5 recalls on it and did them for free. New distributor, cap, rotor, plugs and wires. They said this was the problem and should be fixed. An hour after picking it up and letting it warm up, same problem! Can it be a vacuum leak? Throttle body dirty? IACV? Any suggestions? It's driving me crazy! I am going to check for leaks and clean both the TB and IACV unless anyone has any other ideas. Thanks in advance for your help!!

theres a screw on the side of ur throttle body tht control ur idle it by where ur intake meets ur throttle body after it warms up try adjusting it

I think I figured this problem out!! It has been pissing me off for the last few months, and I believe it was all due to the check valve in the brake booster hose! I took it off and it purged itself, I put it back on and it runs like a champ! I am going to pick up a new hose with valve tomorrow and hopefully that is that!

My 2000 Civic DX just got new distributor, cap, rotor, plugs and wires like yours, plus they changed my fuel filter and cleaned out my lines and it idles smooth and strong, plus I notice the improvement in acceleration. So maybe cleaning some portion of the fuel system may help in addition to re-vamped electricals. Your dealer is honest to cover the recalls for you, mine woulda tried to make a killing out of that work.
