Got in a car accident.

to sum things up, a dump truck side swiped me, since our stories of how it happened dont match, both of us get the fault, so my insurance wont fix my car

What needs to be replaced is the driver side door, mirror, front drivers fender, any idea of what kinda price i should be looking for?

its for a black 2000 SiR, im worried when the new parts go on, it will be an eye soar, because the new parts will look new, and the rest of the car will look faded.

any advice? should i stick to original honda parts? or aftermarket?

Well i was quoted for all the OEM parts and labour for 1500, and if i repaint my car it would bring it up to a grand total of 2500.

I'm just curious as to how the car will look, if i repaint the whole car it should look brand new, right? will i have to do a clear coat or wax after the paint? sorry im kinda a noob at body work.

is there anything else i should question or worry about?

the new parts will probably be glossier then the old parts..but if u wash and wax maybe even claybar it, it should match depending on how bad the old paint is.

Re: Got in a car accident.

just get the whole thing painted, you gotta wait maybe 2 months for the clear coat to cure fully, then you can wax like normal. and take the other guy to small claims court if it was really his fault. aftermarket parts are as good as oem in most cases, esp since they will be painted anyway so it wont matter.

Re: Got in a car accident.

My pops had his truck hit from behind and took out the rear tail light and side of the quarter panel. Guy said it was his fault on the spot but gave the insurance a different story and said my pop changed into his lane. Allstate is taking the guy to court and fixing up the ride. I don't see how you could give up so easily. GL with the rebuild

Yeah hes right dont give up on it. Im sure that the insuarance adjustors can prove somehow by the damage that it was not your fault depending on how the guy explained his side of the story. They will see that his story doesnt match up with the damaged caused which will prove he is lying and that he was at fault

Re: Got in a car accident.

thanks guys,

i have a family friend who works with insurance claims and she made some calls to her adjuster friends and so forth. thier conclusion was, they see tons of cases where stories don't match and when they checked out the damage on my car they said it is more likely to go to 50 50. which is the same thing as an at fault accident in their books for the both of us ( i don't have colission insurance).
5 years ago i was in an at fault accident (failed to yeild). my insurance sky rocketed, i was paying 300 a month.... for 3 years straight, then 220, i had no choice i had to drive, and i did shop around (plus i was only 17 at the time)
its gotten down to 170 now. so im sure you can imagine im desperate to avoid another at fault accident on my record. If you have 2 at fault accidents in 6 years, you're concidered high risk which i'm sure you guys can imagine is not good at all.. i pretty much drive like an old lady now lol

but, back to the body work, everything seems to well enough to get started except i cant find a LH side mirror (2000 SiR, power/heated) i've found tons that are power but not heated, they only place i have found one is at the dealership 355$... yikes!
i know some of you are thinking "who needs the heat?" lol well i'm the kinda guy who likes all original parts and as little as possible modification, so yes i'd like the mirror to be the way it was
any ideas as to where i could find one cheaper? i've tried all the local junk yards and ebay... i might have to go to the dealer on this one.
