Looking for opinions on 2000 si - $5,800
A local dealer has a 2000 civic si on the lot. It has quite a bit of paint touch up marks on it (small brush marks), but overall in good condition. One spot of very minimal rust starting at the rear of the car (tail light area). Also the check engine light came on during the test drive. The car has 122,000 miles on it and seem to run ok. Everything else functional on the car.
The dealer says the check engine light is due to them cleaning the car and they got water in the motor ...
and that they checked the code and it says catalytic conv. but it's due to the cleaning.
There window sticker said "was $9,210; Sale $8,375". Needless to say I started haggling to see what I could get the car for. Is $5,800 a decent price in your opinion ? I've already checked KBB and NADA, just looking for other opinions.
Edit: I'm not looking to have the fastest civic in town by any means. Just a daily driver that would be enjoyable to drive to work every day.

Not bad if your getting a warranty. I'd suggest you demand they change the cat converter. at 130k isnt is supposed to be changed anyways, or 150k or something like that.
And yeah, bs to them geting a CEL for washing the car. Vehicle history with no crashes is a must of course.

TRIZ - thanks for your response. Well, no warranty, I beat up the finance guy hard enough that he would not do ANYTHING to the car ... basically wholesale at that price. Didn't think about the vehicle history ... I should drive by again and get the VIN. Can someone get a report for me if I have the VIN ? I've never done that.
