HELP! Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 Sub Sealed Enclosure problem. NEED OPINIONS
Hi Guys and gals. I actually just purchased an Infinity Kappa perfect 12.1 sub after speaking with the guy over at infinity. He told me that the recommended enclosure for a sealed single sub is 1.0 Cubic feet Volume(which is the type I want). I know this is a little off topic but I was looking at the sub enclosures from subzone and q-logic and neither of them are made in 1 cubic foot volume. Its' either .88CF or 1.25CF. What do you recommend I do because I want it to be as close as possible to the recommended specs without going to spend big $ on getting a sub box custom made. PLEASE HELP! Also the guy said that these subs LOVE power and can easily handle 550 watts RMS each. They said they way underrated them inthe tech sheet.

You can change the box volume by 10% and not notice an overall difference.
Also you can "shrink" a large box but you can't expand a small box. By placing a peice of wood inside the box you can loose some volume so that it is exactly the measurements that you want.
Remember too that the speaker itself displaces some volume; basket, magnet, etc.
Personally I would go w/ the 1.25 box and forget about it. I actually think that would be just about right in the end.

Of those premade, I'd go with the 1.25 ft^3 just like regularjoe said. For the price of buying one, you could easily build your own. All you really need is a jig saw and a drill. the materials shouldn't cost more than $25.00
HI, Thanks for the replies guys. I wanted to add that Infinity said that the box size of 1 cub foot INCLUDES the subwoofer volume! They also said that the inside of the box shouldbe lined with 1" think fiberfill all the way around and that is ALSO included in the 1 cubic foot. Rediculous huh?
Would you go with a subzone box or q-logic. I really don't want to build one because I donb't have the time or patience! Plus the premad boxes are not just butt jointes together, they are routed and put together like cabinets.
THANKS!

Would you go with a q-logic or subzone? Subzone makes a special one for a 12w7 which is 1.25 Cubic foot.. Does it matter if it is specially made for that one because volume is volume isn't it?
Thanks everyone
Thanks everyone
Yes, volume is volume.
It's the hole for the speaker that is the other issue. Generally the holes are averaged for most common speakers. I dunno if the 12W7 takes an abnormally large hole due to it's different mounting characteristics.
I don't have any experience directly with installing w/ any of these products.

I had Infinity Perfect 12's in a sealed 0.88CF box and it sounded great. I had no problems and I'm sure they could have used a little more air, but I highly doubt you would notice much of a difference......
Just my $0.02........

Get the bigger one, if it sounds sloppy or whatever, you can just put something inside to decrease the volume just to hear if it's any better.
