ok, so i bought my eclipse 2301 DSP today, possibly this weekend i'll install it, or maybe later next week, for all that are interested i'll let you know how it works/how well it works.....i have a question or two about the install but since i haven't gotten a reply from anyone i'll probably direct all of my inquiries to eclipse tech support or to the installer whom i bought it from, he's never pessonally used the 2301 but another guy from his shop has one and says it is awesome and i can call him for any questions....Eclipse tech support from past experience is very informative

OK. So I finally Started to install my Eclipse Hideway DSP today. I'm locating the unit underneath the driver seat, i have a 02 Coupe and i decided to mount the unit underneath the driver seat because it seems to be the best place that i could find that wouldn't be too much of a pain in the a$$ to mount. I was thinking about putting it in the glove box when i originally purchased the unit but it will not fit w/o doing some modifications which i don't want to do so under the seat is where it's going. I don't let people enter the backseat of my car from the drivers side and actually i don't even really let people sit behind me in the backseat so the chances of it getting kicked are slim to none.

For the power hookup, eclipse's instruction manual is telling me to hook it directly to the car's battery, is there anyplace closer than through the firewall and to the battery that anybody knows of off hand that i can get a constant 12 volt supply of power. I know i can get a test light or a voltmeter and go nuts checking all of the wires in my car but i don't have a test light or a voltmeter so i was just wondering if anybody knows off the top of their heads where a good place to hook it up will be ....The power wire that my CD player is hooked up to is a switched 12 volt supply is it now? isn't it one that only gets power when the car gets turned on? I had it hooked up to there just to test the unit out and see how it works but when i turn the car off for more than a few minutes the unit gets reset.

Ok man Eclipse is my speciality and boy did you get a deal, a pair of eclipes 290 ss front speakers would be a great compliment to that deck, you will have to post some pics when your finished, good luck.

do me a favor, check in the manual to see how much the current draw on the dsp unit is.

The manual states.....

Current consumption Approx. 1A

I'm thinking maybe that's the max current consumption......or would that be a wrong thing to assume

thats what i thought. with a current draw that low, you could just tap the power off basically anywhere.. radio constant, cig lighter, anything man.
