which sub? kicker s12l7 or eclipse 88120?
So I'm a bit torn between what sub to get. I'm going for just 1 12" sub (powered by a zapco ag360), which would you
recommend? I see people raving about the eclipse, so I'm just curious as to which one people would choose.
I've heard the kicker and liked how it sounded, haven't heard the eclipse though. I listen to a lot of techno, dance and house.
and with the eclipse, is there much of a difference between the 88120.4 and the 88120dvc?

Mohawk, it puts out 360watts RMS, so I guess that answers the question as to which one to get.
It's a 4 channel amp, I was originally going to use it for the front and rear but then decided not to put any speakers in the rear,
so I used a different amp.
180w x 2 bridged @ 4 ohms

So then you'll need to get a Dual 4ohm L7..why not get an L5..the L5 is last years L7 with a stamped steel basket..(which means no difference except price and appearance)..that would be a better choice with that amount of power..

thanks for the quick response mohawk!
just out of curiousity, is the l5 always the previous years' 17?
I was wondering if maybe I should just sell the amp (since it's 4 ch) and get a good 2 ch. amp.
What would you recommend for powering the eclipse 88120? and the L7?
thanks again!

well for $309 shipped can't beat an MTX6500D. 850+Wrms.. seeing as L7's only xame into being 2 years ago.. this is the first year the L5 exists..
If you get the MTX and a DVC Eclipse alum, put it in 1.22 cu.ft enclosure(after subwoofer dispacement) and you'll be happier than a big in sheit.. The eclipse alums are my alltime favourite sub..But they are power hungry. SPL wise with 1 selaed in 1.22 cubes with 800+Wrms..you should be hittin low 130's..(120db's is where your eardrums start tickling(hearing damage)) 130 is where your pants and armhair start vibrating on the right notes..
Cheers

the DVC so that you can get a 2ohm load to your amp .

Note: With a single Eclipse 88120.4 and a lighting audio S2.500 amp (700Wrms) from the trunk of a 1993 Hyundai Sonata, No sound deadening I was hitting a 134.3.... With sound deadening in our civics that number should improve a about 1db or so..(theoretically)

I ordered up the eclipse... will probably have it by end of week =) Now to get the amp... where'd you
see the amp for $305 shipped, mohawk? ebay? I saw one earlier for $275 witih S&H, should of jumped
on it! but I wanted to see how much cheaper I could get it, heh.
Hefe: does your cone look black or silver? black = last year's model which = l5
Now I need to go read up on making a subwoofer box!

Because the 2002 L7's have a nickel plated cone, larger magnets and the same cast alum basket..
The L5's use the same motor structure and cone as the previous model L7's 2000-2001..but instead of using the cast alum basket they use a less expensive stamped steel basket to bring the price down and still offer the same quality sub, while making improvements in the motor structure and cone design on the new L7's
