Sony Xplod Audio System Install
Sony Xplod Audio System Install
Hey guys, finally got my pics up... no performance mods yet, but i was looking for general opinions esp. on the stereo install... not the stereo itself cause i know all you Sony haters will bash me... but it looks and sounds great, so bah to you... =)
Anyway, for the summer i plan on white 17"s and Tein coilovers, DC Upper Strut and Lower Tie bars. I'd like to Auto-X, not drag. Any opinions on this are welcomed.
Oh, and BTW, everything in my trunk is removable for the track, but i wanted to have a system and my spare when i need it.
i was going for form and function. The entire box is removable by taking out one of the subs. The top is held in place by clips and i ran weatherstripping between the top and bottom. I wanted to be able to have my subs and a spare, or just my subs, or just my spare, or nothing at all (for auto-x in the future) and i can do any i choose. How does it look?
My Hatch
edit: yeah, i forgot to mention that i'm not worried about buying Sony... it was personal preference

Decent install.. your choice of placeing the spare tire is quite odd i must say but to each his own. How does it sound though, esp with the spare tire there... looks pretty close to the surrounds of the sub. Also IMHO i would never touch any sony car audio stuff for the life of me, they make great tvs, decent home ****, crappy audio. I only use JL, MB Quart, Eclipse, and Audio Control for my personal cars.

my opinion is that yoru bodyroll is gonna suck with all that weight in the back.
its very clean for what it is, the only wya you could have improved that box would be to either flushmount the equipment or put in a false floor.
and to remove that seam in the middle.
I think that it looks very well engineered, and your build was excecuted very well, the finished product looks rather nice.
other than trunkspace, its a killer install! and i like the location of the spare tire, kind of a quasi grille, a conversational piece in there.
compared to the standard box DIY, my "general opinion"
is that you took a decent diy and took it to the next level, and executed it very well. definitley beats having a fatty box in teh trunk!~
