PS2 HU Controller?
I got this idea over the weekend, would it be possible to use a PS2 controller for a head unit? I was thinking about putting the HU under the seat if possible ('74 F250, don't ask), and I wanted something REALLY custom...I was thinking if you drilled the circuitboard on the controller and the faceplate and ran telephone cable, it might work. Any opinions?

eh.... it might... it might not. youd need to find the exact signal that is sent to the button when pushed, you also need to find out what kinda electronics are goin on in the ps2 controller. basically, it would be excessive amounts of work
sur eyou can. i built a similar model, actually, hacking into teh remote. what you do, is hack yrou remote and use micromini relays to act as switchesfor the remote itself, then solder those in.
then you need to find where yoru controls are coming from, like, say, your steering wheel controls for cruis control and your power window switch controls.
then you add relays in those buttons, powered by the cruiscontrol on/of switch and the center pole of the window switch.
then simply wire it all up and place the remote where it will be visible to the radio.
in yrou case it will be a breeze, you wont have to hack anything in teh car! use the isolated ps2 controller (youll have to hack it to death) to fire teh relays in teh remote (youll have to hack this one gently
) and when everythign is set, itll work flawlessly.
