it wouldn't hurt to have some female connectors to attach onto the ends, unless you are getting a harness for the speakers from where you are ordering from, which in that case, you plug into the factory harness, and connect to your speakers...
im juss installing the speaker out of the box str8 to the factory wires. im curious if there are any necessary wires needed to help connect the new speakers to the car. or does the wires connect str8 to the speakers.
Just get some wire splicers and splice the factory speaker wires and then hook the new speaker wires up to the splicer.. it will save you money and it's really easy.. go to a hardware store or a Radio shack or some place like that to get the splicers.. they shouldnt be more then 1$ each.
If you are talking about 6.5" speakers, tweeters, or 6.9s, all you have to do is connect the stock wires to them, if you don't have an amp to run them off. The stock connectors don't fit with aftermarket speakers. Rather, what alot of people do is just cut off the plastic connectors that connect to the OEM speakers, attach female connectors to the ends of the OEM +/- wires, and then attack them to the aftermarket speakers. If your like me and ever want to resale my car and put in the stock speakers before selling, do what CiViCrAcEr2003 said, and use wire splicers.
The easiest way to do it is goto Circuit City and get a pair of speaker harnesses. They plug into the factory plug and have a positive and negative marked lead with female connectors already on them. This way you dont have to worry about getting the polarity wrong and the $6 that they cost makes the installation cake, no cutting or splicing.
