Cigarette Lighter Outlet Short Circuiting My Splitter Outlets?

Okay, I'm running an lcd, playstation, and dvd player off 3 cigarette lighter plugs I split from the original outlet. Everything has worked fine without a problem until yesterday. When I tried to turn on my dvd, it wouldn't turn on. My friend tried fiddling with the plugs, and it still wouldn't work, and he eventually broke the cigarette adapter to the dvd. Then the power strip for the 3 plugs just shut off and stopped working. I went back to the store and bought another power outlet, and that one short circuited as well. My dvd player works fine at home. I had a spare 2 plug splitter and I used that to hook up just my playstation and the lcd, and that worked fine. I went to wal mart and bought a universal car adapter to try and get my dvd player to work, and that short circuited too! I don't understand why this keeps happening. Someone pleasee help, I have no clue what's wrong.

The universal cigarette lighter adapter I got from wal mart had a spare fuse. I put the new one in and it powered up fine. But when I connected it to my DVD player it stopped working again. I dont understand cuz the DVD player worked fine for the last 4 months.

I think the fuse immediately blows once i plug it into the dvd. The spare fuse worked for about 2 seconds, then poof gone.

Well it worked fine for the last 4 months, I don't understand how one day it all of a sudden decided to stop. Right now I'm running a 60 amp fuse at the battery. If I upgrade the fuse to a higher one will that help at all?

When I have just my lcd and playstation on it works fine. I don't have all 3 running at the same time. The outlet really doesn't seem to like my DVD player or something.

the manual says "Power Consumption: 16 watts" and I only plugged the dvd in by itself. Today I went to Radio Shack and bought a new 5 amp power cord when the dvd only needs 1.6 amps. Plugged it in, and immediately blew the fuse.
