just bought my amp&sub...help

can you guys give any thoughts on what to do with these
amp kicker 400.1
sub kicker s12L5

i only bought one sub coz i need my trunk space.. what kind of box do i use? will this sub work well with the enclosed with plexiglass? since i dont have the grill for that square sub. if not i could buy the grill later on..

also, i plan to put my amp under the seats. is this advisable?

yeah i've seen yours before... your sub is an eclipse right? did you make your own box? if so what material, how thick and where'd you buy your carpet to match the rear?
thanks!

When making a box you should use 3/4 inch or thicker MDF wood. For the carpet, I found some at a hardware store by my house, Lowes.. if you dont have that then check Home deopt or other stores that are similar to that. I would not recoment placing your amp under your seats (especially if you have side airbags because the electrical signals that are given off can make your SRS light come on so you would have to take it back to the dealership to get it reset or follow the DIY instructions) It would be easier just to mount the amp on top of the box that you buy or make. If you make the box cut an 11 inch hole for a 12inch sub. and a 9 inch hole for a 10inch sub. I made my box kind of like the one in the DIY section but I changed some stuff and made it more practical for me. Don't worry about getting the grill now becuase that will not effect your sound performance in any way and it's kind of an accessory.

errrr... whats and mdf wood? is this the same as the particle wood? i didn't see any DIY about building a box.. i saw the one that you have to take yuor spare tire out...

also if my srs light turns on and i reset it. is there a chance that it will light again? i have an EX but i don't think i have side airbags coz when i took my sidepanels off to change my speakers i didn't see any airbags there..

MDF=medium density fiberboard. some people call it fiberboard, pressboard, or particle board. they sell it in like 4'x8' pieces at lumber yards for about $20. and i think he meant the DIY for reseting the SRS light when he said that.

I'm not sure if it will keep going on once you reset it,, but why wouldnt you just place it in your trunk.. its harder for people to steal if its in your trunk and then you wont have to worry about the SRS thing. You can mount it to the back of the fold down seats if you want to but I think that it would be kinda stupid to put it under your seat, but thats just my own oppinion.

You would know if you have side airbags or not becuase they are on the side of your front seats.. so im guessing that you dont have them because its kinda hard to miss them. But still I think that you should just mount it in your trunk somewhere unless there is some reason that you cant.

oh ok thanks.. but i still think thieves wont try to steal what they cant see... i mean if they get in your car do you think they will look under the seats for the amp? i think they would go for the hu rather than under my seats.. btw i have one of those fake faceplates.. i think its much easier to open the trunk.. and when the thieves do they get the sub and the amp.. but that's just me that's why i'm open to any suggestions.. thanks again!
