im so Indecisive
so about two weeks ago I bought a alpine mrd-m300 amp and a 10 inch alpine type s sub...so I decided I didnt want that stuff so I sold it to my friend... then I got paid... so I went and bought the same amp a 12 inch type s and the alpine cda-9815 deck and now I want to get rid of it... I really need to think things out more before I do them...does that sound like a setup I should keep or wait and get something else

first you should ask yourself - why am i not happy with what i am buying? - what are you looking for in a system? stop buying stuff until you know what you want. figure out what you want and then ask everybody their opinions. after that you can go out and buy a system that you will keep for a while.

what you need to do, is buy a friggin ridiculous system, spend an ishload of money, and then you wont be disappointed for a long time, if you think its too much, then you'll grow into it eventually

if you want to set your head unit up for sound quality, go out and spend some of your money on a nice eclipse head unit, you shouldn't need to be adjusting your parametric eq settings on a head unit to make it sound good, buy an eclipse and never buy another brand again

or pioneer p1r
or theres a few others out there that are REALLY nice.
eclipse is friggin great, but its not the god of all headunits.

Well the first thing I learned as I got older in audio is that all those features are generally a marketing thing.
Most crappy equipment uses those settings to overcome their shortfalls.
Good equipment on the other hand can do what it advertises and therefor doesn't need all these bells and whistles.
But the thing is to be competitive in the marketplace you have to have all the options to be compatible with the other guys ....
Just like home systems ..... my AIWA shelf system has all these presets and stuff ..... and they help it sound better. But my $7,000 home theater definately doesn't need any of that .... and it makes the AIWA sound like *** in comparison.
Having all the settings flat is generally best. The Alpine is a good deck. Leave all the settings flat and just be happy.
If your not happy .... then tell us why and we can help point you to equpment that would more appropriately fill your need.
