earthquake 4.3? it's 520 watts, could put 260 RMS to each sub. very clean power, darn good crossovers, and going for 185 shipped on ebay. that's where my money would go, earthquake makes good stuff.
I have an earthquake 4.3 im trying to sell, and for sure it puts out all the power its rated for and more.
but yrou gonna want more than 255 rms for those power hungy beasts, for sure. not a good idea for a sub amp for those woofers. your looking in the killowatt(s) range to power a pair of those to be happy. minimum of a $250 investment, for the most entrylevel kilowatta amp, jbl 1200.1

thanks for imput. so alpine, rf's, stock speakers (for now) and jbl 1200.1 ($275.00 on ikesound) would be a decent set-up? and any sites that you would recommend for lower prices. thanks
edit: okay...now im looking around and i wondering if i would rather get a 15" sub. basically im looking for a sub that sounds good when listening to rap, pop, techno, r&b (an all-around bass). and i want a nice system for about $600-$800 with alpine cda 7894. i feel bad because i am actually exposing my "n00bie-ness" on this subject, but just remeber that there was once a time when you needed help from someone.

for that kind of msuic I would totally reccommend a 15 over a pair of 12's. will eb able to hit those deep low bass nots, and with all teh cone area, you wont be lacking for SPL, even if its theoretical spl will be lower than 12's.
I guarantee you you will be happy with a single 15 till it comes time to actually fit it in yrou car once its in there tho, youll love it
