cant see head unit display?

i've owned my car for almost 2 years now and since then i've had 3 different head units.
an eclipse which i couldn't see a thing on the head unit display.
a clarion a little better but still couldn't see it like i should be able to.
and now a sony.

and that's where it gets interesting...since the console is angled up it is hard to see a lcd display on any head unit.
well anyway, my hu the cdx-cda900 has cleverly installed a contrast option, enabling me to clearly see the display even in bright sunlight.

i just wanted you guys to know. since we all seem to be aware of the issue, it looks like sony is one possible solution.

i don't know why everyone dogs sony...
sure they lie about some of their power ratings. but i've had sony before and its reliability is why i went back to them. now clarion...they suck.

Even though my Blaupunkt San Jose (Mp3 ) has a blue backlit display with white writing, it hasn't been that hard to see during the day... maybe the time a little bit but its not bad at all... i dont even have the contrast all the way up. I have no complaints about my headunit... best purchase yet.

i was going to glue it but i didn't want sticky residue on the fabric. so i just ended up putting a couple thin strips of metal under the cloth. i used ventian blinds cut to length pushed up to the point where the arm rest starts to curve, and screwed into that. its pretty sturdy, i just figured i'd rather have a couple holes than a big sticky rectangle. its pretty sweet, b/c people can't mess w/ my radio now.

Can you see everything clearly during the day? I have Alpine 7892 and I can't see a thing when it's bright outside.

heck yeah,

i can read the time, track, everything during the day or night. its pretty sweet.

i wonder what headunits offer a contrast option? another option is to find a kit that allows the head unit to be parallel to the driver. as opposed to the dash b/c that is the main reason why lcd's are so hard to read in our cars.
