tech heads help pls!!!
okay, heres my questions...I have:
Alpine CDA-7894 HU
Infinity Refrence 605cs two way components
JL Audio 250/1 monoblock sub amp
2 12" JL Audio WO subs in a box
1: Now what i'm trying to figure out is EQ, anyone know of any good settings i can use, LP, HP...80HZ, 120HZ...so on and so forth?
2: I know that its not balanced and i probably should get an amp for the components, does anyone have any suggestions on what amp would compliment my JL 250/1 nicely? kinda want to keep things JL...but open to any other suggestions
3: should I just upgrade my components to something better instead?
4: should I install 6x9's, if I do is there a way that i can control just those speakers volume?, do i need a third amp to control that too?
as it stands, the Alpine HU is pretty decent without an amp for the components, but when i crank it past a certain volume...well...thats another story.
any suggestions would help.

1. Crossover points are personal preference, but I would shoot for something that keeps the bass in the front of the vehicle. I'd start with 80Hz and 2.5Khz, and go from there.
2. JL 300/2 with passive crossovers or JL 300/4 with active crossovers. I'd probably go with the 300/4 and go active.
3. The Infinity's aren't bad. They should sound a lot better after coming off deck power. If you are still unsatisfied, then upgrade.
4. No 6x9's! Use that extra cash for stuff that matters like a new amp or new components. Heck, even some sound deadening int he doors would be a better idea than 6x9's, IMO.

I agree with SQCivicEX. No need for rear 6x9. Save the money! I too have the infinity components and they are working wonderfully! Had it running off the deck for a couple of weeks, but decided to run them off an MTX amp, so the sound's still crisp on high volume. only prob is rattling panels, so next stop for me is dynamat on the sides.
as for adjustments, i am still figuring it out too. there's a post here for "Adjusting Frequency". Search for it.

Thanks fo rthe replys...one more question...do you think i can replace the 2 12's for a good 10"....or better to keep the 2 12"s in case i want ot expand?
I think i will go for the JL 300/4...heard othing but good reviews about that amp.

My car would drown without my 6x9s. I don't understand how you guys go without em. I guess to each their own. 2 12's better than 1 10. You can always expand on your 2 twelves if you get serious enough.

noahnoah.. the matter is power. Amp the front speaker adequately and you'll never miss the rears. Off HU power well.. it'll distort before it gets loud enough really.
FOr your choice in subs. CHanging the subs could be either a good or bad idea, depending on your reasons for changing them.
I'd suggest to get some better components first. Then save up for an amp. The reference series aren't that good and the cones would flex alot coloring the music with alot of power anyhow. Get some JL 6.5" Components, then grab an 300/2 and you'll have all the power you'll ever need. And 300Wrms is a fair bit of power. You'll only gain about 4.2 DB's with a 1000 watt amp and subs that can handle the power.
Go for new speakers first.
