~To the Gurus of ICE~

Ok, little question for you guys:

The incident: Saturday I was coming back from a swim meet with my sound up at "Volume 20" and the extra bass boost going. The ride was about 30 minutes long and I had it going pretty well (the sound). I was almost home when I heard the bass stop kicking. WTF!! So I get home and check everything out. The red LED on my Amp was off, indicating it had shut itself off. I felt it and it was really hot. I went outside 10 minutes later and it worked again.

The problem: Now whenever I play it at the same levels I used to it doesnt seem to kick as hard. I dont feel the "woosh" of air or vibrations as severe on my seat anymore. It still gets sound, but not the same degree it did before my incident.

The question: Do you think I messed something up? Or is there some easy solution (i.e maybe adjusting a default on my amp?) Anyway, any help / suggestions will be appreciated.

It'd really suck if the problem was unfixab;e.

Thanks

It appears that the amp went into protect mode due to overheating. Did you try readjusting the bass boost on the amp? If that doesn't work, something may have been damaged.

get some fans to cool your amp, at first it sounded like a bad ground when it went into protection mode

possible connection loose somewhere but you said that it was really hot which makes me think the amp just shutdown. IF the amp did go into shutdown mode more than likely NOTHING was damaged and you probably just feel like something is different. It happens to us all........how do you have your amp mounted. Some amps are made to be mounted differently than FLAT on the ground??? Is it ventilated where your amp is? I know you can't throw some a/c in the trunk but the placing of the amp can sometimes make a difference......good luck

Psycho-Acoustics.

The reason why every riceboys Sony Xplod 10's sound way better than my IDMAX's, and their infinity Kappa coaxials and Pioneer tweeters kick my Focal Polkevlars a$s. Why, because they think it does.

Psycho Acoustics also explains why you can get different imaging effects like seemingly have sound coming from behind you when all speakers are in front of you. It had almost everything to do with your sound stage, and the time delay between the notes hitting your ears. Which depending on the severity can sometimes very adverse effects. Like in my old car, If I leaned back on a long drive, all snare drums came from behind me. If I leaned forward there were right on, but certain notes had an echo effect.

It's also related to impression. You may think a song sounds crappy or completely different being played in your home in comparison to your car. Even if both systems are very balanced and properly equalized. It's because the sources of sound seem different and you'r getting different effects in the car than in your home.

Thanks for all of your replies.

My amp is mounted on the back of my subbox. I have the rear seat folded down for the most part so I think enough air is getting to it.

Actually I think it is all in my head. The more I listen to it, the more I get used to it. I thinks its time to buy another sub to go along with my Xtant 12. God this hobby is addictive
