I'm at the very end of planning for my sub installation and have a few final questions.

1) I've been going back and forth about amps. My bro, who is a former SPL competitor, suggested an Mmats amp. I'd like to run more power than this, but funds are limited when you're in highschool and have no job. I'm not a big audio guy, and I had never heard of Mmats before he suggested it to me. But I've been told they're good. I've also been told they drain your battery pretty bad, any truth to any of this?

These two seem to be the same, I can't find much difference except price.
I've also looked at the JL 500.1. I'm sure you guys know a bit about this one, but here's a link anyway.

2) Are these prices decent? Has anyone done business with these companies/sites before? If not, could you please suggest a good alternative.

3) If you think the amps I picked out are worthless pieces of junk, please give me an idea of some similar watt amps at 4ohms in the ~$500 price range.
