which one should i get i dont know what to do?
Rodney = Lost
the 12 w7 box wouldnt fit into the trunk (jl audio box)
so we went with the 10....and it slams.
i used to have 3 10 w6 and it is no where near as loud or good.

12w7 in either a sealed (better response) or ported (louder) box, with a 1000/1 amp. Kinda spensive, but WELL worth it . You'll need to fatmat while you're at it.

well if you only have the JL 500/1 amp I wouldn't do the 12w7 cause there isn't enough power. I would probably go with the 10w7 but if you sacrificed a little and get the 10w6 that amp will actually push that better than the 10w7 and sound better. That amp isn't enough for bigger subs and the w7's require alot more. Plus the 10w6 will be a bit cheaper.

get whichever one you want. the only difference is frequency range and volume. (assuming you took the time to install it properly)
frequency range between the 10 and 12w7 is not too big, only low bass junkies (rap music fans, basically) would really be better off with the 12 as opposed to teh 10.
as to performance, the w6v2 is more or less the w7 without the volume potential.
good luck!

rino are you smokin' actually the 500/1 will push the 12 w7 just fine anyone who has ever used this amp knows that it will actually do a lot more than 500 watts i used to have 3 10 w6 and the amp was too powerful for them.....so i dont even want to think about putting 1 10w6 on that amp cuz i know it will blow....hell i have seen the 250/1 blow a 10 w6
amps dont blow speakers, improper tuning does.
a 500/1 is perfect for a 10w6 is perfect for a 10w7 is perfect for a 13w7 is perfect for a DD 9515 is perfect for a sony xplod. more power would be required to get louder, thats all. Or careful gainwork to ensure the woofer doesnt bottom, or top. And most people would rather turn it up past clipping for that apparent SPL, when they have too little power, when what they are really doing is causing massive damage to a woofer.
you could run a 13w7 off a 250/1 and it will sound just as beutiful as it would off a 1000/1. you can be darn sure it wouldnt get as loud
the 500/1 woul dbe an ideal amp for any of those subwoofers. cost and space are your two enemies, here.

Dont believe EVERYTHING you hear. but believe it or not Ludlam is right. a 12W7 would take a JL 1000.1 and smile.
And i assume you are talking about the old w6's, and they could take 450-500 each w/o blowing. Maybe if u pumped
500 watts and ran it for 2 days on a 30HZ test tone it would break down but they have great integrity. if u want my opinion
you can't go wrong with the 12W6 with that amp. plus you can spend the xtra cash on sound deadening. its worth it.

With 500w or less, the JL reps over at the carsound forums said the W6v2's will sound better than the W7's. A single 12W6v2 or 13W6v2 on a JL 500/1 would be nice. The 10" are pretty in-efficient, so I would stick with the 12" or 13". Plus they will get a little louder and play a little lower.
As for the commet about the JL 500/1 only pushing out 500w rms, no more, no less, you are wrong. The JL reps said they put out 20% more power than they are rated at, so the 500/1 will put out around 600w rms. The 500/1 carsound bench tested put out over 700w rms.
By the way, I am selling a brand new JL 300/2, and two JL 500/1 amps.
This is a re-post from the for sale forum...
I have a JL 300/2, and two JL 500/1's for sale. The JL 300/2 and one of the JL 500/1's are brand new. The other JL 500/1 had been in my car for the past 3 weeks, but ran very lightly since it is hooked up to a 12" MMATS sub, in which it only handles 250w rms. All amps are in mint condition, even the used amp. They were all purchased from an authorized JL dealer, and have all receipts. I am looking to get $275 for the 300/2, $300 for the used 500/1, and $350 for the new 500/1. Those are the going prices on ebay, so unless you come across a good deal, it won't be beaten, especially since mine were purchased from an authorized dealer.
I will accept money orders, or paypal from verified users only (address must be verified). I am a verified paypal user as well. Prices above do not include shipping. I will only charge you the actual shipping cost, in which shouldn't be over $15 if in the US since they don't weigh very much. If you live in Southern Cali, you can pick up in person, for the prices mentioned above.
