I just bought one JL 10w7 and I was wondering what type and size would get me the best sound: sq and spl.

Go take a look at JL Audio's website. Browse to your speaker than pull up the .pdf for it (or go get your owners manual).

They give ideal box dimensions, construction and internal volume for each speaker they make. For sheer volume, go with the ported they show there. For max punch and fidelity, go for sealed. You can always print it out and take it to your local sound shop, they can build you a box to that spec. What I've found is that having your local shop build you a box is most-often cheaper than buying one premade from a large manufacturer:

Best Buy box for 12": $90 + tax
Tweeter Audio box for 12" built to my spec: $60 + tax

Note that all frequecy response/sound quality testing for your speakers are done in the size/shape of box the manufacturer reccomends. Therefore, you'll get the best sound out of a mfr. spec box.

Looks good to me, it's built specificly for the speaker and has heavy enough construction to put up with some nice volume levels. The plexi is a nice touch, but personally I'm function-over-form and shy away from windowed boxes...
