amp for 10W7

I'm gettting a 10W7 in a pro wedge box. Right now i have a phoenix gold XS2500. I'm looking at an MTX6500D to power it also. which would be better.

my friend at the audio store tells me that nothing will compare to the JL500/1 when powering this sub. is this true? will it really make a big differencE?

Basically you need something that will put out 500-600 watts at 3 ohm. JL 500/1 would be great, those are the amps I have and I like them. The downside is they are more expensive than other brands. To find an amp that puts out 500 watts at 3 ohm you are probably going to need an amp that puts out around 1200 watts at 2 ohm. HiFonics Burtus 1500 might do the trick, or the JBL 1200.1

mystic, dont reccomend that crap to a 10w7....

10w7 would work beautifully with a 500/1

a phoenix gold tantrum 1200 would also work pretty good...

i could probably think of a few more amps

but neither the PG XS2500 or the MTX6500D are well suited for a 10W7 right? so basically i should just pick up a 500/1? or what else do you suggest?

I was just suggesting those as something for someone on a low budget.

It it were ME, I would run a Phoenix 800.1 or 600.2 Titanium, JL 500/1, PPI PCX2200, a Diamond D7152, or something really god awfully expensive from Zapco

get the JL Amp .. u need something to run 3ohm's or .75 cause i have 13.5 W7 and its being powered by a kicker zr600 and a hifonics boltar...
i got my amps before i had the sub .. but if i would have gotten the sub first i would have the JL 1500 amp for it.. cause it runs the right OHM.. which keeps the amp stable.. puts more power to the sub and doesnt over head the amp at all.

especially 2 different amps! but remember. but even if they were the same model, no two amps are really the same.
