need help wireing underbody neon?
if i were to hook up the underbody neon to somewhere... so that when i open my door either my passenger or the driver side.... the underbody neon lights up.... where should i hook up the positive wire to? does anybody know? i was thinking of looking for it somewhere in the fuse box under the steering wheel.... or does anybody know of a better or easier place....?

look for the dome light wire.. its.. GREEN/RED found UNDER the DASH FUSE/RELAY BOX *
that wire is a negative so your going to have to hook up the negative to that wire.. not sure where the positive goes tho.. i think on the chassis.. if you wire the positive to the green/red then your going to get the opposite effect(lights up when doors closed)

i believe the colors are green, and green with a white stripe, tho you can check that yourself. once you find the right wire, you tap it and use it to switch a relay, here is how you find teh wire:
this is easier with a friend. any stereo shop will have an alarm program you can use to track wirecolors. its probably wrong, but you cna use it as a start. thats if you DONT want to pull your side panels and check the switch itself. if you do that, then all teh guesswork is done for you.
anyways, lets say you think its the solid green one you see under your dash, but you want to confirm that. (just to let you know, in my car its green with a red stripe, and the wire harness is under the steering column, right above the fuse panel, its like the third up from teh bottom, where teh bottom is a single plug, and the second is an entire row of plugs) to confirm that wire, pull the plug. get yoru key in the ignition, and test continuity between teh leads in yoru ciggarette lighter. you can do this with a test light, or a DMM, or anything that has a load on it. since you need a relay, id use that, with 2 wires coming off teh coil as the tester.
with current flow confirmed, i would fix one end to teh 12 volt source of teh cig lighter, and the other to what i think is teh right wire. upon contact, my friend sitting next to teh door hits the door pinswitch. if the relay flicks on and off, you have the right button! scotch lock it or t-tap it.
there was a thread in tech awhile back concerning door sill lights, someone wanted to know how to wire that up. i did a mass relay DIY wire guide, which covered tapping into your door pinswitches to tun on underbody neons. find that, and youve found your wire guide!
