Taking out old HU

Hi, Cant figure out how to get the center console out on my 02, im sure its a quick fix...but i dont feel like messin anymore. Do i have to take the whole dash out or just the center? Please help!oh ya...how do i make a quick million bux? thanks

If you are talking about the console where the shifter is, there are two screws on each side at the bottom rear of the console. Take those out. There is a panel that goes around the e brake, pull that off. Under that panel there are two screws holding the console on, take them out. There are two clips on the front bottom, take them out. Pop the shift boot ring off of the shift **** and unscrew the ****. There is a trim piece which houses the cig lighter, pop it off and unplug the lighter. The console should come right out.

ive gone through 3 HU's and ive never needed to take out the shifter area.... the cig lighter console can just be popped off

Yup, neither have I, but that's how to take out the console.
