2k3 EX Coupe - CD CHANGER/Kenwood KEG Mounting Help..

Hey!

I just received my new Kenwood MP919 HU, and a Kenwood Keg. For those of you that do not know what the Kenwood Keg is, the Keg emulates a CD changer but utilized a hard disk for storage and playback of MP3 files.. VERY COOL.. For more info : www.phatnoise.com. Anyway, I want to find an ideal mounting location. This thing will mount EXACTLY like a CD Changer, but I don't know where it is safe to secure it. If I put it in the trunk, where do I "MOUNT" it? Sheet metal screws into WHAT?? I don't want to hit anything important. Also, what about under the seat? What is the best way to MOUNT the unit under the seat. Where do I secure the screws?? Does anyone have a DIY on the removal of the 2k3 H/U? I know about the previous DIY, but the 2k3 has a full console and I heard there are some differences.. I'm not TOO concerned about it, the previous DIY should give me enough help, but if anyone with a 2k3 has some insight, it would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I will be putting up an entire DIY with PICS on the install of the H/U and Music KEG. Any help appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Pictures in your replies if ya have em!! Thanks!!

Actually I got a pretty damn good deal.. Still expensive, but I have been saving for this for quite some time......308 for the MP919, $400 for the Keg...... Price out a HU/CD changer and you are pretty damn close to this..I'm stoked, can't wait to put it in..Hopefully I can get some info by tomorrow!! Got tomorrow off......Perfect day for an install!!

Under the seat always worries me since I drive a coupe as you do too. People trying to get into the back when your seat is moved forward is always a hazard for them to kick it. Even if you put it under the drivers seat and you never move it forward, people sitting in the back can still hit it. The safest place is the trunk IMO. You might want to consider mounting it on the back of your rear seats.

I put my Kenwood CD changer under the drivers seat. I did this because it fit, and I never move the seat (only the passenger's side). What ever you do, Do Not put it under the passengers seat! There are springs that will hit it as soon as a passenger puts it forward.
In the trunk is good too. Get creative dude, there are many places to put it...just put it out of site though
