I am wondering, how much power does an inverter use. I like to sit in my car during work, and i just got a dreamcast into it. How long can I SAFTLEY play before I need to worry about my car dying. Assuming it is off or on key position 1.[IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG]

i did that experiment once, i was at my brothers soccer tornamet so i plugged my laptop into my inverter and put it in my cigarrete lighter. it lasted and hour before the inverteer shut down. i tried to start the car and couldnt, i need a jump. so i would say 45 minutes at the most

Thanks a lot, i guess in cold weather it should be around 35 min. Cool I live in chicago, and i sure as hell dont want to jump in the middle of this crappy winter.

I can only leave my inverter go for about 15 minutes before it kills the battery. This is since it's a 600 watt inverter.

okay...just because it's a 600 watt inverter dowsn't mean it pulls a full 600 watts...it means it can support up to 600 watts....an Xbox uses a fair amount of juice as do LCD's...it's not safe at all to do with a stock battery. Once a battery dies it's never the same again..it's CCA's drop it can;t maintain voltage as well.. For things like this you need a good quality deep cycle secondary battery in your car. usually in the trunk..and use an Isolator to keep your primary/starter battery from losing charge...an optima yellow top is the best choice for this...
