Wiring help
Hey guys I am a little confused here. Currentyl I only have a Clarion DB 325 running my infinity components and 6.25 in the rears. Now my specs say that I have 2 pairs of rca pre outs (same as 4 channel RCA line level output???) . When I add an amp am I correct in saying that the 2 RCA pairs will plus into the amps input side and then the speakers wires will run from the amp's output side back to the speakers? Should I be replacing the speaker wire from the size that comes from the factory if I am running 60-70 rms to each speaker? It is needed?
Nah, that wire should be fine. As far as input and outputs go, if the amp has four channels and you plan to use all four channels, then you can either get "Y" adaptors and split each RCA cable instead of running two sets or you can just run two sets.
Yes, 2 pairs of RCA outs is 4 channels and your 2 pairs or RCA outs will go into your inputs on the amp and the outputs will go to your speakers. You can wire your stock speaker wires to your amp if you'd like but wires that small can only carry so much current at a time. I would suggest something bigger, around 12 gauge.
