Rep Power: 293 should i make these updates to my system?..
ok, i was just taking a look at my system, and was wanting to round it out a little better.
first, i was wanting to get rid of the 6.5" boston acoustics in the rear and replace them with diamond audio m3 6"x9" coaxils ( i have the m3 components up front, so i want to run same brand speakers, round out the sound a little better ) .
then, i want to disconnect the sub from the 4 channel amp, and connect it to a new amp, a monoblock, that way, i can use the 4 channel to power both the front and rear speakers. the new amp i was looking at was the RF power 250M, 250watts x 1 @ 2ohms. its 25 watts less than what i am giving my 12W3 right now, but i doubt that will make a difference since the 12w3 v1 is rated at 250watts nominal.
i can get the amp for around $200, and the 6x9's for $160 or so, and i guess $30-$40 for the extra wiring and stuff i will need.
so, how does that sound, not the price, but the idea?

Rep Power: 0 Sounds good to me. But yea... it will be a little costly. That's what I would do though. Good luck!
Just to answer your questions Ludlam, W3's are DVC. I think all JL subs are DVC's but I'm not entirely sure. I have W3's and they are DVC's for sure though.

Rep Power: 293 yea, the w3 is DVC, maybe the w0 are SVC, but i'm sure the rest of jl's subs are DVC.
hey Abstract, i have that same amp as you, the 550X, let me ask you, where did you mount the amps? i'm thinking because the 250M is a small amp, it might fit on the back of the back seat with the 550X.

Rep Power: 0 If your gonna buy the RF amp buy it at an authorised dealer and not best buy or online. Best buy's RF amps seem to be overrated when tested..amps from authorised dealers still put out 10-15% more power than they are rated for...the new plan seems to be a good one!

i took a better look at the 250M today, and it looks like it will fit on the back of the back seat, its a small amp.
money is looking tight right now, especially since the holidays are coming up. i wanted to do both items at once, but i wont be able to afford them both, so i'm gonna do one. which should i do first, the amp or the rear diamonds?
