an inexpensive 40-50x2 watt RMS amplifier, such as the ones you cna get fomr best buy or circuit city will be more than adequate for your power needs.

Alpine makes pretty good amps, I put an MRP200 Alpine 4-channel in my wife's car and replace the factory 6X9's with kicker 2 ways and I think it sounds really good.

i was at ultimate electronics when i saw that alpine amp, the mpr200, and i was planning on getting it, so i had the sales guy demo it for me. as soon as i told him that i wanted to see that amp, he started to tell me how much is sucks, but i still wanted to hear it. so he played a cd in a pioneer unit that was like the one i had and used boston acoustic speakers for the demo, first un-amped, then amped. honestly, i heard no difference between amped and un-amped. BUT, since the guy didn't like the amp, maybe he didn't even turn it on or something, or maybe the gains were down.
i'm not dissing your amp, i'm just giving my experience.

That can depend on your deck, also. If you have a good deck, with good crossovers, it can sound clear at high volumes, assuming that you have decent, efficient speakers.

If you like Alpine for whatever reason, check out the MRV-T320 and MRV-T420. Both are 2 channel amps and I just installed the T420 in my car running quarts. Super clean until....it gets too loud before I can drive it into clipping. Granted I just started using her today but after 30mins at constant high volume, the amp wasn't even warm. It was pretty darn cold today though.

Oh, I am sure that alpine the salesman called junk would be fine. He may have not had any in stock or maybe he wanted to switch you over to a unit paying higher commission. I don't think you can go wrong as long as you go with a mainstream brand.
