I found a good site for "learning" car audio

I was trying to understand how different configurations of a 2 channel amp would give me the most power out of that amp and ran across this web site. http://www.faqs.org/faqs/car-audio/ It is a bit out-dated but I found A LOT of good info in there. Hope it helps you.

Oh, BTW... just to help me out.. which config with a Kicker Comp 12 would have the best results.. i.e most power from the amp.

I have an Xtant202 amp running the sub. Here is how I currently have it set up

w=wire

w w
+ - + -

This is what I was thinking, any why I was thinking it, was that I read in a post that electricity can be related to a tank of water with a hose attached.. water will only travel so fast through 1 hose, but if 2 hoses are attached then twice as much water will flow through

wP = positive wire to speaker
wN = negative wire to speaker

wP wN wP wN
+ - + -

remember this is only going to 1 sub in a 2 channel amp... thanks guys

I see you used my diagram... much props. I know for a fact that you have to bridge to double you output.

pos to pos in left channel. neg to neg in right channel. but that only knocks you down to 2 ohm. to get more power you have to drop to 1 ohm and then a half ohm. Half will kill your system in less then 3 months. Its for compitition only and amps that can handle it.

The theory on the wires and electricity flow... why not just get a bigger guage of wire?

my bad. Thanks for the site. Found it very helpful on bridging. What I described above is actually the wattage of 1 channel x4 at 4 ohms mono. So basically bridging a 300 watt 2 channel amp would be 150 x 4 or 600 watts at 4 ohms mono. That means I am pusing 1200 watts to my 15". Sweet!!!!!!!!

That sort of helped alot. Now all i got to figure out is if they are talking about going from just the right channel or from + on right and - on left.

But Hey... THANKS ALOT
