Crossover placement!!

Just curious as to where you put your crossovers for the front speakers/tweets. Im looking at my CDT crossover now, and I see that the grill on it is a grate (has holes in it). In lue of that, I am skeptical of putting them in the doors due to the possibility of moisure frying me circuits! So, I was just curious as to where you guys put yours. Also, what dB do you have your tweets set at, just to soothe the demons within.

in the doors...or if you run two wires, put them under your seat.

you can put them anywhere, we put my buddies in the map pocket, so he could show off exactly what kind of sounds hes got in his mustang...

if you wanna hide yorus, anywhere they will fit is fine, inside the door, outside the door, under the seat, under the car, behind the kickpanels, under the steering column, in teh glove compartment, or even in the trunk!

Where are the tweets located at in the stang?

WhiteRabbit, I thought you were long gone. Now, I see that I was just looking in the wrong holes..heh

I have had 2 sets of mb quart components. The car audio place installed them both times and put the crossovers inside the doors using huge pieces of velcro to secure them. 7 years of use between the two sets and never had any problem with them being inside the door.

Regularjoe is on a distinguished road
I have mine on the amp board in the truck. Looks sweet if I do say so myself.

I have my tweets on the (-2) setting. Other choices were (0) or (+2).

installers at my shop always put the crossovers inside the doors. never gotten a car back yet. had cotton behind my speakers when i had those in my doors. no signs of ever getting wet. no signs of water damage to my door pops, old door speakers, power windows, cd changer or any of the deadaner that is in my door. i think youll be fine.

they are coax XR's, tweet is integrated and i was taking a sabbatical, mix of installing ever day and the poop i get on this forum from overthetop. ppl like that just make me want to leave, just giving me poop no matter where i go. youll basically never see me post outside of autosounds, cause of him.

I keep mine in the trunk. If you look at my pics one is just laying there next to my JBL. I have cleaned up my wiring but I have not screwed my crossovers in to anything. They just lay there and are fine.
I have my dbs for my tweets set to normal because I have them bi-amped so that I can adjust them using the crossover gain. The tweets are high up in the tweeter pods so I have then 1/8 of the gain back from the midrage.

Dude, I really don't know too much. I have looked on forums and read magazines All summer learning how to do stuff. I was able to do it all myself, except for my HU which I got free installation for. I also have a friend who is a great installer and has the best system I have ever heard (He took me to the 'Shaw when I was younger and he blew Everyone out of the water!!!! I was nervous as hell because I was the only Puerto Rican on the 'shaw and his system in his bucket made a lot of guys with nice cars look really bad). Anyway, my friend has a full-time job knowand he has not done installation stuff for awhile, but he gives me tips and checks my ride out to give me suggestion to keep me from setting my car on fire. He went to UCLA with me and to high school with me so I know that he is a pretty smart dude...he would take audio install classes during the summer. It really helps to have someone like that to help, and all of my friends and I got stuff wholesale growing up, and we all got hooked up. The point is that it takes an intelligent person who takes classes or does a lot of research to be good at installion of car audio. I have alot of respect for a lot of the people on the forums and in the magazines who dedicate their lives to car audio and can put a nice system together. I am just a newbie to this, and I am working on my second install for my girlfriends car....and so far so good!!!
I can try to answer any questions that you have, but I would probably be answering from learning from the mistakes that I have made and corrected along the way...and there have been many!

PS:I hope that you are not installing a 15 and two tens in the same trunk?? Bad Idea! You would be WAY better off going with either the one 15 or the two ten, but not both together.

yeah in another post I had I got the same input on the speakers. I already knew that but wasn't thinking. I was blinded by the power. The air flow would cancel each other out. I think I am going to sell my speakers and get 3 or 4 12"s

As far as what I know. Its actually quite a bit. I installed my HU and ran all the wires and connections, blah, blah, blah. But I get slightly confused when it comes to bridging, and ohms. for some reason it just doesn't click all the time.

But thanks anyway, If i have any more question and you have answers I will be more then hapy to listen.

cool, dude! One thing I know for sure is that the more speakers you have the more complicated it will be to calculate the ohms!

Have you thought about going with two 15s or two good 12s instead of 30r 4 12s, it can be potentially just as good sounding and less complicate!
